The big storm...

As most of you know, we had a HUGE storm hit, which lasted throughout most of today. We had 50+ mph winds and the rain was pouring down. More than 80% of Yuba City lost power for the majority of the day, including us. Trees and fences are down, roads are closed, streets are flooded and hardly any businesses were open. We were lucky and only lost a silk plant from our porch (we found it 1/2 of a block away). My mom's next door neighbor had a 14 foot trampoline from another yard land in their pool! I saw a Yuba-Sutter Transit bus stalled in the middle of a street with a pine tree laying right across the top of it.
Our niece Kyrie had asked to stay the night tonight, so I picked her up earlier this morning and she stayed with me and the baby all day. She was so much help while Rich was away at work - - it's ridiculous that they even made him come in today...like anyone is going to want to test-drive a car it that! Anyways, here are a few pictures from our eventful, non-TV, non-internet, non-heat filled day...
We entertained ourselves by playing cards and Jenga. Notice Kyrie's outfit? It was so cold that she had a shirt, her sweatshirt, Rich's sweatshirt, my scarf and hat and two pairs of socks on. I was bundled up just the same and the baby was wrapped in blankets.
Me, all bundled up.

Our family and our friends met up at my brother Kevin's house for some chili and cornbread. Thank you, Combo's for the hospitality, good food and warm fire! Here is a picture of Kasey kickin' it by the fire with his daddy.

Zack was happy to see grandma! He talked her ear off :)

Auntie Kristie was teaching Zack to ride Kasey's ride-on toys. He wasn't too thrilled about it and preferred her to just cuddle him.

Great pictures-I love them all. They really show that it's possible to make a good day out of one filled with problems.
