Welcome 2009...

Happy New Year to our friends and family! It's been a wonderful year for our family. God has blessed us beyond measure this year and we have enjoyed so many special moments. We have watched our son grow and develop into a toddler (a very busy one, at that!). Rich was offered a new position working for the state, which meant he had to commute, but gave us a steady schedule for most of the year, a steady income (instead of commission) and he was able to be home SO much more. Toyota was good to us, but the change was necessary and we now no longer have to stress over sales and commissions being low. Our internet business (www.poorrichardscustoms.com) has continued to do well, which has allowed me to stay at home with Zacky.

I love being at home and have begun to find some hobbies that I feel truly passionate about, like photography. I've been able to take some family and individual pictures for my family and have a few people lined up for other photo shoots. I'm having so much fun with it!

Zack is doing fantastic and is learning something new every day. He is such a fun, vibrant, entertaining and gentle boy that is filled with energy, love and joy. As every toddler, he has his fussy moments, but he can usually be easily distracted with a book or a snack. I love waking up in the morning to the sound of him singing in his crib and whispering, "Maaaammmmaa!", however, he makes his point well made if I don't get him out of there soon enough and proceeds to pound on his bedroom wall, all the while escalating the loudness of his, "Maaaammmaa!" :) He is such a sweet little boy. He has a smile that lights up a room and is so loving in nature. He will often stop whatever he is doing and run up to me, putting his head in my lap and patting my side. I love how affectionate he is, but his sense of humor is right up there! He has brought so much joy and understanding to our lives. God has used Zack to teach me so many lessons and I'm absolutely grateful for every one.

So, this past year has been wonderful and I have learned so much. I have learned about the importance of true friendship; I've learned that you have to work harder at some relationships than others and that sometimes there comes a point when it's okay to let go; I have learned that life is short and EVERY moment counts; I've learned that in big struggles, there are unforgettable lessons to be found; I have learned a little more about who I am and what I am capable of; I've learned that sometimes the fight is worth it, and sometimes it's best to gracefully walk away; I have learned how incredible of a father my husband is and have more appreciation for him every day. I am starting 2009 with a fresh outlook, an open mind and a soft heart. I hope this year was great for all of you as well and I look forward to all that 2009 has to teach us. Thank you Lord for all of our blessings. I am amazed.
